How to use maths sheets that actually help

Daily maths practice fails for one boring reason: the same twenty questions get done from memory instead of by working them out. Because these sheets are generated from rules rather than picked from a list, the numbers change every time you tap New sheet — there are millions of possible combinations at each class level.

What to give at each class

  • Class 1 — single-digit addition and subtraction. Ten questions is plenty.
  • Class 2 — two-digit sums with carrying, tables 2 to 5, and simple word problems.
  • Class 3 — three-digit work, tables to 12, and missing-number puzzles that force reverse thinking.
  • Class 4–5 — long multiplication, division, fractions and comparison, plus word problems that hide the operation inside a story.

The silly-mistake problem

Most marks lost in primary maths are not from not knowing — they are from rushing. If your child gets the method right but the answer wrong, don't add harder questions. Give the same level with a timer instead, and keep the count low enough that neatness survives.

Use the answer key properly

Mark it together, not afterwards. A wrong answer explained thirty seconds later teaches far more than a cross discovered the next morning.
